ChatGPt integration to reply to questions such as how many beds, etc., us the descriptions as knowledge data for responding automatically, is the house available, follow up etc.

Generative AI is the future of search and responsiveness.

This is going to be the future in all industries for interactions.

I agree! I've enjoyed testing out the ChatGPT integration in Hospitable (as well as the standalone version). Would love to see it integrated into OwnerRez!

"Be not the first by whom the new is tried,

Nor yet the last, to cast the old aside."

Speaking for myself personally, to this very day I have never yet found any sort of AI-based automatic response system that has given me the slightest bit of useful, relevant information that a standard Google-type search could not have done.  Systems that force me to attempt to use such a system rather than submitting a conventional support request, strongly push me to go to a less controlling competitor.

We are carefully watching this technology develop, and it could be that eventually it will be sufficiently mature, relevant, accurate, and reliable to be trusted with our client's needs, perhaps as one option among others.  At present, I've seen no evidence of it rising even to that level, nor that it will do so anytime soon.  But I am glad to be proven wrong by facts, experiments, and research.

As you might expect, there are others at OwnerRez that are more enthusiastic about the promise of this technology, which is great - we can discuss and critique opposing views, as we seek to provide the very best possible support and service for our clients.

I agree with Paul.  The technology isn't very helpful yet and there are already chatbots for real estate for several years now that you can put on your site that will answer questions that the guest could spend two seconds looking up on the property listing.  Anything beyond that which can be programmed (wifi codes, property info, etc.) still needs flesh and blood.  "Will you make an exception for..." cannot be an AI given answer.

I'd love to see this too! Would be great to get some intelligent AI to do auto-responses. This has been the big competitive advantage of hospitable, since they've been very strong with messaging/AI.

I hate everything to do with AI, and I am a high-tech geek in networking & communications technology industry.

All it will do is make big tech companies richer, and enable businesses (large and small) to eliminate workers. Blue-collar workers who need jobs.

What will we do when there are no jobs?  Will AI feed the masses?

Do you (a successful businessperson) want to pay more taxes to pay unemployment and welfare to all the people who lost their jobs?

Do you want to live in a welfare state?

I'm just saying, think about the ethical and practical aspects of AI before you get all excited like it's a new Christmas toy.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Thought I'd see what Chat GPT had to say about this

ChatGPT

"When someone expresses concerns about AI replacing human labor and its potential negative impact, it's important to acknowledge their perspective and provide a balanced view on the topic. Here's a response you can use:

"I understand your concerns about AI replacing human labor and the potential negative consequences it might have. It's natural to be cautious about technological advancements and their impact on the job market. However, it's important to consider both the challenges and the opportunities that AI brings."

"While AI has the potential to automate certain tasks and roles traditionally performed by humans, it also opens up new possibilities and can lead to job creation in other areas. Throughout history, technological advancements have often resulted in shifts in the job market rather than complete job elimination. While some jobs may become obsolete, new roles will emerge that leverage human creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving skills."

"Moreover, AI has the capacity to enhance human productivity and efficiency. By automating repetitive or mundane tasks, it frees up human workers to focus on more complex and meaningful work. AI can assist in decision-making processes, provide valuable insights, and contribute to innovation and growth in various industries."

"To ensure a positive future with AI, it's crucial to prioritize reskilling and upskilling efforts. By investing in education and training programs, we can equip individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven world. Additionally, fostering collaboration between humans and AI systems can lead to powerful synergies, where humans and machines complement each other's strengths."

"It's also essential to address ethical considerations and ensure that AI is developed and deployed responsibly. This includes transparent decision-making processes, accountability, and safeguarding against biases or discriminatory outcomes. As we navigate the path forward, it's crucial to strike a balance that maximizes the benefits of AI while minimizing potential drawbacks."

"In summary, while AI may lead to changes in the job market, it's important to approach this transformation with a proactive mindset. By embracing the opportunities AI presents and adapting our skills and knowledge accordingly, we can navigate these changes and shape a future where humans and AI work together for mutual benefit."

Remember, this response aims to provide a balanced perspective, but it's essential to engage in an open and respectful conversation to understand the concerns and perspectives of others."

Hi Sunchic!  I asked ChatGPT the same question about AI, and it gave me a different answer than yours. And if I wanted to, I could ask it to create an answer that reinforces not using AI. 😂

But in all seriousness, if OwnerRez were to integrate ChatGPT into parts of the guest experience, how would you have confidence in what it tells your guest?  How will you correct wrong answers, or even know if they happened?

What happens if ChatGPT tells your guest that dates are available when they aren't, or for a cheaper rate than you charge?  Will you have to honor that since your website made that claim?  What if the guest asks ChatGPT to lie and give them an answer different than your policy then uses that to complain?

I agree that it's coming, and that we should embrace it, but the role of how it communicates (what it says, how that is presented, limitations on making claims) is pretty complicated to work out.  ChatGPT would not be generating opinions or making small talk - it would be answering guests about important biz-op information.

"When someone expresses concerns about AI replacing human labor ....

Oh, the Irony!  AI defending AI!  I love it!

>> "I understand your concerns about AI replacing human labor and the potential negative consequences it might have. It's natural to be cautious about technological advancements and their impact on the job market. However, it's important to consider both the challenges and the opportunities that AI brings."

The only opportunities it brings is to increase corporate profits by eliminating certain jobs currently held by humans. Also it can increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve decision-making, and operate 24x7.

>> "While AI has the potential to automate certain tasks and roles traditionally performed by humans, it also opens up new possibilities and can lead to job creation in other areas. Yeah. Tell that to 50 year old unemployed steel workers & factory workers: "Well Sir, all you have to do is move to India and learn Java or become a TikTok influencer"

>> "Moreover, AI has the capacity to enhance human productivity and efficiency. By automating repetitive or mundane tasks, it frees up human workers to focus on more complex and meaningful work. Yep. enhance productivity. enhance efficiency. innovate. grow.  But, is that what humanity really needs right now?

>> "To ensure a positive future with AI, it's crucial to prioritize reskilling and upskilling efforts. Yes, we'll adapt. The computers will train us to complement them. For example, someone will need to repair them.

>> "It's also essential to address ethical considerations and ensure that AI is developed and deployed responsibly.

No worries there!  I'm sure that as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon race to capture the budding AI market, they'll be very ethical and responsible.   ;)

>> This includes transparent decision-making processes, accountability, and safeguarding against biases or discriminatory outcomes. As we navigate the path forward, it's crucial to strike a balance that maximizes the benefits of AI while minimizing potential drawbacks."

Potential drawbacks?  Yes. There are those. For example, when they decide that humans are inefficient, unpleasant, and unnecessary. Have you not seen Terminator?   :)

>> "In summary, while AI may lead to changes in the job market, it's important to approach this transformation with a proactive mindset. ... humans and AI work together for mutual benefit... I'm just going to run away screaming now, bye....

Sorry to hijack this thread for a philosophic discussion. But at the end of the day what humanity needs is NOT additional efficiencies, but perhaps a fresh look at being better humans. I have enjoyed this conversation and hope I have not upset anyone

I will leave you with these thoughts:

Half of AI researchers say there's a 10 percent chance their work will lead to human extinction

The co-founders of OpenAI which created ChatGPT have described AI as an "existential risk to the human race" and that humans run the "risk of accidentally creating something with the power to destroy it".

Elon Musk, the epitome of high-tech cutting edge development, worries that "emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technology goes wrong and destroys humanity".

To be honest, making ridiculous references to "The Terminator" may not actually be ridiculous at all  :(

Hey All,

As we are almost 8 months + from the original post, I wanted to bump the request with some additional context since the technology has changed a bit.

With "CustomGPT" models available for creation now to allow users to create a custom knowledge base, this functionality could be incredible for those dedicated to providing 24/7 support but without the resources to hire multiple virtual assistants.

Are there any thoughts on integrating ChatGPT or Yada.AI?

Thanks!

Agreed and this would be huge for my 1 man business!

I am open to any of the vendors like Yada.AI or Guest Guru. Guest Guru has mentioned wanting to work with OwnerRez, but they did not receive the same type of interest from OR.

We are actively at work extending our existing open API, to support integration for communications.  Among many, many other useful things, this will allow you to make use of the wide variety of AI tools out there in the OwnerRez ecosystem.

I discovered company named Besty, that’s what they do. They said it will take 6-7 months till OR api would be ready for integration, but it’s in process. It’s huge for my business and would simplify and unload my work a lot

I think OR could let hosts be the judge of whether they would like to use AI chats.  I for one would love to see besty integrate.  I am hopeful for this month, as that is what besty said at the conference last month.

Bingo, you nailed it!  That's exactly the plan, and why we are adding communication endpoints to our open API.  That way, each client can individually decide which of the very many AI systems they would like to use, and how exactly - by using an integration developed by an API firm or other integrator, or even developing your own integration to your own specs if desired.

That seems about correct.  Our engineers are still working on the API extension to even make this possible.  Then, once that work is complete, any other integrator would naturally take some additional time to code to make use of it and offer the AI integration.
